Custom Cost Ranges

Different seasons and months may command different pricing strategies. You can adjust your default pricing during the year by using custom cost ranges. Increase your rates during busy months like Christmas and cut them during quieter months to entice clients with lower budgets.

Use the ADVANCED SETTINGS to create your custom cost range.

REMEMBER: There are two ways that you can organise your costs. You can either leave the costs section blank and set all costs in the ‘Resources’ section, or you can set your base and block costs with additional costs added to ‘Resources’. Any costs you add to your resources will apply on top of your defined costs in this field.

Adding a Custom Cost Range

Click Add Range to begin. A row appears where you can input the range type, from/to and cost:

I. Description 2. Listing Specifics 3. Costs Range 4 _ Shipping 5. Other costs Set Costs options o BASE COST o DISPLAY COST ADVANCED SETTINGS Range type Date range BLOCK COST Base cost All matching rules will be applied to the booking. Block cost Add Range

Depending on the range type, the from/to values are unique. You can select either date ranges or block ranges.

  • Date range–a date picker field will appear when you enter from/to.
  • Months range–from/to will display a selection of months (January to December)
  • Weeks range–from/to will display a selection of weeks (1 to 52)
  • Block count–from and to will show the number of blocks

The amount you enter can be multiplied, divided, or added to the base cost and block cost. Rows can be removed using the X on the far right, or dragged and dropped using the handle on the far left to sort.

Examples

Holiday Rates (Date Range)

Holidays seasons can demand higher rates. In this example, we have added an extra block cost of £50.00 that applies over the Christmas holidays.

  • Enter the start and end value – December to January
  • Add the price increase – + Block cost of 50
  • Save Product

Results

The installation (Base cost) is £20, plus the scheduled advertisement space charge (block cost) of £200, plus a surcharge of £50 for any December bookings. When customers buy your product, this will appear in the checkout. These costs will apply to all product-related resources.

Booking Discounts (Block Count)

Encourage customers to book longer periods of time by giving discounted rates. This is a simple technique to entice people to book for extended periods of time. In a similar way to offering free shipping on orders over a certain value to drive sales, you can offer your customers value for longer booking durations.

For this example, we will remove the installation fee (Base Cost) when a customer makes a booking for longer than 2 weeks. Customers will incur the Base cost fee unless they book 3 weeks and over.

Ensure that you have set your booking duration to customer defined so that they can choose the number of blocks they are booking.

Next, we will set your costs.

To configure a block booking discount:

  • Click Add range
  • Select your range type – Block count
  • Enter the start and end value – 3 to 4
  • Enter the price discount – Minus 20 from the base cost
  • Save Product

Results

The installation (Base cost) is £20, plus the scheduled advertisement space charge (block cost) of £50. The space is available for a maximum of 4 weeks in on booking, so you discount the base cost for bookings made over 2 weeks. When customers buy your product, this will appear in the checkout. These costs will apply to all product-related resources.

Weeks Cost Base Block
1 £70 £20 £50
2 £120 £20 £100
3 £150 £0 £150
4 £200 £0 £200
