Delivery & Shipping

You can offer a variety of shipping options to your customers all through the checkout process with Advercado.

Before you create any shipping rates, identify the various locations that should have their unique delivery charges. For example, you might want one set of shipping charges for customers in the United Kingdom and another one for customers in Europe. Shipping zones are the names given to these distinct areas.

Navigate to:

  • Vendor Dashboard
  • Settings
  • Shipping

You can manage shipping methods by clicking Edit or Add Shipping Method from this menu.

A new window will appear.

From this page, you can limit your clients’ zone locations and add new delivery methods.

To add a shipping method, select one from the drop-down menu and click Add Shipping Method.

You are free to use as many shipping methods as you choose. Hovering over delivery methods allows you to change or delete them. The toggle button can also be used to enable or disable a shipping method.

TIP: Use multiple Table Rate methods to quickly set up a range of options, including standard and courier shipping.

You can also use postcodes to restrict zone location for customers who buy from that zone.

You can set your own shipping policy and shipping processing time for your customers.

Simply click the policy settings tab in the top right corner to manage your shipping policy settings.

Flat Rates

Each Shipping Zone can have different (and multiple) Flat Rates.

  1. To make changes to a shipping method, click Edit.
  2. You have the option of changing the title or leaving it as is. Customers will see this title when they check out.
  3. Now add the Cost (this is applied to the entire cart).
  4. Select its Tax Status (define whether or not tax is applied to the shipping amount).
  5. If you like, you may type a description for this method.
  6. Click on Save Settings.

Local Pickup

Customers can use Local Pickup to pick up their orders from a defined location.

  1. To make adjustments, hover over the shipment method and click Edit.
  2. Provide a title for your product that customers will see when they check out.
  3. Enter the cost of the option – the price will apply to the entire cart.
  4. Choose a tax status, and click the Save Changes button.

Free Shipping

Free delivery is a fantastic way to get customers to spend more money. For example, provide free shipping on orders above £50.

  1. Create a title that will appear to customers during the checkout process.
  2. Decide on a minimum order amount if applicable (Minimum Order Value).
  3. From the drop-down menu, choose Save Changes.

NOTE: Free shipping will remove all other shipping options from the cart including Table Rate once the free shipping rate has been achieved. If you wish to offer free shipping for multiple shipping methods look at the free shipping option via Table Rate, you can read the article here.

PRO TIP: If you want to offer a simple shipping solution that is great for your customers, set a Flat Rate and offer Free Shipping when the value of the cart reaches a target, this will encourage customers to spend more!

Table Rate

Table rates are a great way to create dynamic shipping costs based on a variety of conditions including price, weight & item count.

See our article Setting up table rates to learn more.

Old Shipping Method

On the settings page, there is a link to use the previous delivery system. The directions for using this system can be found below.

To configure, follow the steps below –

Navigate to:

  • Vendor Dashboard
  • Settings
  • Shipping to set up your default shipping settings.

In the shipping settings, click on Click Here to use the previous shipping system.

Once you click on Click Here, this is the page you will see as seen below.

Setting up your shipping

Enable shipping: Check this box to enable shipping

Default shipping price: If you do not want to add the default shipping price each time you create a product, then this feature comes really handy. Enter the minimum price or base shipping price.

Per product additional price: If a customer buys multiple items from your store, you can set the shipping fee for the additional items here. If you sell posters and materials, you can add a surcharge for additional items; however, this does not apply if you buy multiples of the same item.

Per quantity additional price: If someone buys over one unit of your product, then this option will be useful for you to determine. If a customer buys 2 or more posters, this price will be added to every count after 1.

Processing time: This has nothing to do with the calculation. It is just a simple way to display the time required before delivering the product.

Shipping Policy: Enter your policy here.

Refund policy: Enter your policy here. Include instructions for customers on how to get a refund for your products.

Ships from: Select the location your product ships from.

Ship to: In this field, you will add the locations you want to ship to. After selecting a country, you will get the states on another dropdown.

State\Region\County: Name the state\region\county of the location you are shipping.

Cost: This is the default price for the country you’ve chosen. That is, if the system cannot identify any state name provided by the user, this price will be given.

Add location: By clicking this button, you can add more countries and locations.

Override Default Shipping Prices

You can alter the default shipping charges if you want to. The shipping costs are applied if you do not add any shipping costs to your product. However, depending on your product, you may need to bypass existing shipping settings. In our booking product and product forms, we’ve added a shipping override feature. Follow these instructions to make use of this feature.

For existing products–you have to navigate to your product edit screen:

Navigate to:

  • Dashboard
  • Booking Products/Products
  • Edit
  • Navigate to the shipping section.

You must now choose the checkbox override shipping to apply the additional shipping amount for that product. Depending on your requirements, you might enter a positive or negative figure. You can use a minus value if the base shipping price of your product is less than the global price (what you created in shipping).

Let’s say your standard delivery rate is £5, but the standard shipping rate for a poster is £3. So, in the field below, type -2 is an Additional Cost.

This cost would be added to the shipping costs for the parents. That means that if you have a £5 base delivery price and a £3 additional cost, the product’s basic shipping price will be £8.

After that, all the stated pricing will be determined. So, if you set a price of £2 for Berlin, Germany, the total cost of shipping the product to Berlin, Germany will be £8 + £2 = £10.

Multiple quantity calculations

Here is an example of multiple quantity calculations:

Quantity: 5 Posters

Base Shipping Price: £5 + £3 from override = £8

Per Quantity Additional Price: £2 3 from override = £3

Berlin, Germany =£2

So the total shipping cost for 5 posters would be 8×1 + 3×4 + 2 = £22
